Jakarta – Dengan beragam kemampuan yang bisa dilakukannya, BlackBerry juga menyimpan banyak jalan pintas yang tersembunyi.

Misalnya saja untuk shortcut di home screen yang merupakan bawaan standart BlackBerry, tombol N bisa difungsikan untuk akses cepat menuju BlacBerry Messenger, Y untuk Yahoo Mesenger, M untuk All Message, alt + s untuk SMS dan masih banyak lagi.

Itu baru shortcut sederhana. Masih ada lagi jalan pintas yang memudahkan kita dalam mengakses email-email yang menumpuk. Shortcut email ini sangat berguna jika kita memiliki account lebih dari 2 hingga 10 yang dipush atau diaktifkan ke BlackBerry kita.

Terlebih masing-masing account email tersebut telah didaftarkan untuk ikut berbagai mailing list yang setiap kali akan mengecek isi email yang masuk harus membuka folder icon masing-masing account milist yang diikuti. Hmm… Bisa dibuat repot jadinya.

Misalnya, saya menggunakan 10 account email dengan 10 milist yang diikuti. Untuk melihat isi email setiap milist, maka saya hanya menggunakan shortcut acount email. Cara ini dijamin lebih mudah dan cepat.

Cara mengaktifkan/membuat shorcut acount email:

Langkah 1:

Masuk k emenu message(M)/email + menu/logo BB + pilih search (S), silahkan isi list folder search ini:

-. Nama: (isi sesuai nama milist yang diikuti). Contohnya: kendari atau Indonesia.

-. In: Sorot list yang ada di samping kanan (in) dan pilih (to:field).

-. Subject: Isi sesuai Received email milist yang dimaksud atau yang akan dibuat shortcut. Contoh: [bb-kdi] atau [Kombb]

-. Pilih menu/logo BB + save (otomastis akan muncul save seacrh)

Langkah 2

Pada saat langkah 1 pilih save secara otomatis maka akan muncul list save search. Lanjutkan dengan mengisi:

-. Title: Pastikan isi title ini tidak sama dengan mengisi nama di langkah 1, bedakan dengan jenis kapital huruf yang digunakan. Contoh: Kendari atau kombb

-. Shortcut key (alt+) sorot pilih susunan huruf yang ada di samping kanan (pilih huruf yang mendekati huruf awal milist yang dimaksud agar lebih mudah diingat). Contoh: k (kendari) b (kombb)

-. Pilih menu / logo BB + save.

Jika kedua tahap dilakukan dengan benar, otomatis nanti kita akan masuk ke dalam milist yang dimaksud atau yang telah dibuatkan shortcutnya.

Nah, sedangkan cara menggunakan shortcut ini, kita cukup masuk ke message (M) atau email apa saja, tekan alt + huruf yang dipilih untuk shortcut. Contoh: alt + k atau alt + b

Mudah bukan? Semoga lebih memudahkan kita dalam membaca dan mengikuti milist.

Jakarta – Icon yang ada di BlackBerry bisa diganti-ganti di kala kita sudah bosan. Namun pertama-tama, siapkan dulu icon penggantinya yang berformat .png. Lalu bentuk sesuai ukuran perangkat BlackBerry Anda.

-. Ukuran icon untuk BlackBerry Bold dan Javelin adalah 80-80, Storm 73-73, sedangkan untuk Curve 8310 dan 8320 ukurannya 48-36.

-. Cari UID emailnya , (User id email yang digunakan untuk menunjukan folder icon email yang nantinya akan diganti).
Untuk melihat UID email: options + advance options + service book + lihat alamat emailnya — view see UID.

Contoh UID: GBISXAPC00S *09*

-. Untuk memudahkan kita membuatkan folder, masing-masing UID email ingat dua angka terakhir di UID tersebut.

-. Buka BbFileScout, cari icon yang diinginkan yang tersimpan di media, bisa .png maupun .jpg, asalkan ukurannya pas. Copy (store ‘icon’ on stack).

-. Lalu paste .png tersebut ke store/appdata/rim/bda/icon/. Buat folder baru untuk masing-masing UID email, misalkan: GBISXAPC00S09. Jumlah folder disesuaikan dengan jumlah UID email yang akan diganti iconnya. (copy ‘.png’ to GBISXAPC00S09).

-. Ganti nama (rename) icon yang difolder UID yang dipaste tadi menjadi 1-80-80 untuk Bold dan Javelin. Untuk Curve 83xx rename menjadi 1-48-36, Storm 1-73-73. (Angka 1 digunakan untuk menampilkan icon) 80-80, 48-36, 73-73 merupakan ukuran icon email yang sesuai BlackBerry yang digunakan.

Jika belum memiliki aplikasi filescout silahkan download di sini: (BBFileScout sudah versi 1.2.0.0 dan sudah diganti namanya menjadi FileScout)

P3BB di lakukan ketika BB tiba2 bengong.. email ga masuk2.. Ym ga konek2.. sinyal GSM/gprs ajah..
1. Cabut batere minimal 1-2 menit.
Fungsi ini sama seperti melakukan location update di handphone biasa, yang kalau di jenis tersebut bisa hanya dengan turn of / turn on lagi. Sayang nya BB harus dengan cara ini (CMIIW)

2. Registrasi HRT
dari Options – Advanced Option – Host Registration Table – (pencel lagi tombol opsi) – Register Now
Fungsi ini untuk memastikan HH anda terdaftar di network BlackBerry. Dengan telah terdaftar, maka tunnel dari HH anda ke infrastruktur BlackBerry sudah terbentuk. Tunnel link ini yang men-trigger capital GPRS/EDGE/3G.

3. Send Service Book (SSB)
Kalau sekira nya HH anda belum mendapatkan self registration email dari BlackBerry, maka send SB hanya bisa di lakukan via pc / desktop. Namun kalau sudah berhasil mendapatkan notifilasi self registration namuan masih lower gprs/edge/3g, maka send SB bisa di lakukan dengan masuk via email setting (browser: http://operator.blackberry.com)

BlackBerry Storm (Ist.)

Jakarta – Tanpa harus disebut dalam lisan maupun tulisan, semua orang tahu bahwa BlackBerry adalah komputer mini yang bisa dibawa ke mana-mana. Lebih dari itu, BlackBerry juga pengakses internet bergerak yang menawarkan kecepatan akses memukau setiap saat.

Sebagai sebuah perangkat yang memiliki fitur komputasi dan internet lengkap, BlackBerry tentu memerlukan privasi dan pengamanan ekstra. Pasalnya, ponsel pintar ini menjadi tempat penyimpanan data dan informasi pribadi yang bersifat rahasia dan hanya boleh diketahui oleh si empunya.

Memahami pentingnya arti data tersebut, BlackBerry telah menyediakan beragam fitur pengamanan berlapis untuk memastikan tidak ada orang lain yang bisa mengakses data tersebut apalagi mencurinya.

1. Password. Sama dengan ponsel lain, BlackBerry dilengkapi dengan password yang berfungsi sebagai kunci handheld. Orang lain tidak bisa menggunakan BlackBerry Anda tanpa memasukkan kata kuncinya. Pengaturan Password bisa dilakukan di menu Options >> Password.

2. Content Protection. Proteksi data dengan Content Proteksi bekerja layaknya program enkripsi data di komputer. Dengan memasang Content Protection, semua data yang ada di BlackBerry terlindungi dan hanya bisa diakses dengan memasukkan kata kunci tertentu. Saat kita melakukan proteksi, semua data terenkripsi. Data yang sudah dilindungi ini akan tampil dengan ikon gembok tertutup. Sebaliknya, saat ingin dibaca, data akan di-denkripsi terlebih dahulu, lalu muncul ikon gembok terbuka.

3. PIN. Identitas unik yang dimiliki oleh setiap handset BlackBerry ini ternyata tidak hanya berguna untuk berkomunikasi antar-pengguna BlackBerry. PIN juga bisa digunakan untuk mengirimkan data rahasia ke orang lain, tentu antar sesama pengguma BB. Untuk menggunakan fitur ini, masuk menu Message, pilih Compose PIN, masukkan PIN tujuan, isi pesan (termasuk foto), lalu kirim. Dengan cara ini, data yang dikirimkan menjadi lebih aman dibandingkan mengirim pesan lewat email atau handphone.

4. Hapus Data. Bila Anda berniat menjual BlackBerry, pastikan semua data didalamnya sudah dihapus sehingga pengguna berikutnya memiliki handheld tanpa data apapun. Anda bisa menggunakan Memory Clean, tapi terkadang fitur ini tidak menghapus semua data. Untuk memastikan semua data terhapus, masuk ke Security Options yang ada di menu Options. Lalu ke General Settings, tap logo BB, lalu pilih Wipe Handheld. Setelah itu, semua aplikasi data dan layanan lainnya akan dihapus dari BB.

Masuk Contacts ->  -> New Groups ->  -> Add Member -> masukin kontak² yang mau dijadikan 1 grup ->  -> Save Group (masukkan nama grupnya dulu).
Jika mau sms ke nomor² telp tersebut (yang didalam 1 group), tinggal masuk di Contacts -> cari nama group tersebut ->  -> sms text.

The Application Switcher

Like your desktop computer, the BlackBerry is a multi-tasking machine. That means that even though you work on only one application at a time, other applications can be open and active but are sitting in the background. On the BlackBerry, this tends to be both a good and bad thing. It’s great for things like instant messaging applications, where you can be typing out an email and in the background you still have BlackBerry Messenger, AIM, MSN, Google Talk, etc. keeping you online and active. Where it’s bad is that because you only effectively use one app at a time, many people neglect to close applications that they no longer want to use, which means they are hogging your device’s memory to know benefit. If you never close your apps and leave them open all the time, you may find your device start to slow down a bit.

The Application Switcher allows you to jump between your open applications. Many BlackBerry users tend to exit to the homescreen (hit the red end key) then click/tap the icon of the next app they want to go to. If the app you are going to is already open, there’s no need to relaunch it – you can often get to it quicker by evoking the Application Switcher. Launching the Application Switcher places a ribbon of icons on the middle of your display (screen capture at the top of this article), layered on top of whatever other app you may have open. Within the Application Switcher, you can scroll between your open apps and select any one you want to jump to. There are four basic ways to launch the Application Switcher:

Alt + Escape (back key): This is the least intuitive way to launch the Application Switcher, but it’s a shortcut that RIM has had built into the operating system for a long time. If you hold down the alt key and then hit the back button (to the right of the trackball/trackpad) the Application Switcher will launch.

Hold Down on the Menu Key: This feature debuted on the BlackBerry Storm and has now made it’s way into newer versions of OS 4.6 and 4.7. Instead of just tapping the menu key to bring up the options menu, hold down on it for an extra moment. This will launch the Application Switcher. It’s not totally intuitive, but it makes sense. The menu key is a bunch of dots… the Application Switcher contains a bunch of apps – it’s all good!

Set a Convenience Key: Before the invention of the method above, many BlackBerry users set one of their convenience keys to launch the Application Switcher (including myself). There’s less of a need to do this now, but if you’re using an older device that doesn’t have the long-press menu function built in, then you may want to do this.

Within an App, Within the Options Menu: Within an application, you can typically hit the menu key, scroll down a bit, and you will find an option for Switch Application. Selecting this will launch the Application Switcher.

Learning to use the application switcher will allow you to speed up the process of jumping between open applications on your BlackBerry, as well as letting you know what apps are open and running on your device.

Closing BlackBerry Applications Properly

Now that you know (thanks to the Application switcher) what apps are open and running on your device, you should get in the habit of closing any apps that you are not/don’t plan on using. As stated above, hitting the red end key and exiting to the homescreen doesn’t actually close an app. It leaves it running on the background and accessible via the Application Switcher. To close an app, you need to hit the menu key, scroll down to the bottom and select Close. Conversely, if you’re on the first screen of an app you can use the back/escape key to back out to the homescreen (not guaranteed to work in every app). That’s it. Once closed, an app won’t be available from the Application Switcher, but you will be able to launch it again from the homescreen.

Bagaimana mengubah ‘default email address’ di BB?

Apabila kita ingin men’set’ atau mengubah ‘default email address’ di BB, maka caranya adalah sbb.
(Jika sudah dilakukan, maka ini akan menjadi ‘default email’ ketika meng’compose’ email baru)

1. Mulai dari ‘homescreen’.
2. Klik OPTIONS>ADVANCE OPTIONS>DEFAULT SERVICES.
3. Di ‘Messaging (CMIME)’, di box pilihan, pilihlah email yang dikehendaki menjadi ‘default’.
4. Save dan Exit.

OK so today I am going to give you a step by step on Shrink A OS by Lyricidial. The basics of this program are simply it lets you delete any unused applications that come pre installed on the blackberry to help free up device memory. This program can be used before installing the OS (which is what I prefer) or after the OS is already installed if you want. Remember what ever applications you delete off your blackberry with Shrink will not show up in app loader at all. So this means that if you delete BB Maps (for example) but decided you want it on your phone at a later date. You will not be able to go through app loader to re install, as it won’t even show on your list. Luckily Shrink comes with a nice feature called Put it Back You can click this button to re install all the applications that your originally deleted. OK so now on to the walk through

First in order for Shrink A OS to work properly you will need to do the following:

Have WinRaR installed on your PC, click Here to download (this is the zip program that Shrink comes in)
Have Net Framework 3.5 installed on your PC, click Here to download
Have Shrink A OS downloaded on your PC click Here to download

After you download Shrink A OS double click the zip folder and highlight the shrink .exe and drag to your desktop

Once you have extracted the .exe to your desktop double click to open (if you are on Vista you will need to right click on the icon and choose run as administrator before you open). Now once open click the browse button and browse to your OS folder you want to shrink. This is located for most at C>Program Files>Common Files>Research In Motion>Shared>Loader>your current OS folder. Now highlight the entire OS folder and choose OK

No choose what applications you would like to remove from the OS folder. Once you have made all your selections click the shrink my OS button. You will then get a confirmation message that your OS has been shrunk

Now click the launch loader.exe button (at this point make sure your phone is plugged into your PC), and you will see the app loader start. Notice any application you shrunk will not be listed in app loader.

Now let the OS load on your phone and you are officially done
